AMT-American Express Travel was established in 1980 and is now one of Southern California’ s largest leisure travel agencies with over 20 years of experience working with Independent Contractors in the US.

Because of our affiliation with AMERICAN EXPRESS we have access to one of the most comprehensive travel services and travel discount programs in the industry. All of which you can offer to your clients. In addition to the tremendous benefits for your clients, we also have the flexibility to customize our program to the needs of each Independent Contractor. Allowing you to put the power of American Express to work for you.

Our Program

We work only with dedicated leisure agents who are committed to the travel industry. Because the majority of the profit available is through Tour & Cruise bookings, that is what our Independent Contractor Program focuses on. Through our specially designed Independent Contractor web site, you will be able to research and book all of your leisure tours and cruises online from your home computer.

How Do You Benefit?

The first and most important benefit of working with AMT-American Express Travel, is that you will have the support of the largest seller of travel in the world, American Express. You will also be able to interact closely with office staff to help you every step of the way.

The following tools and benefits are also available to you at no additional charge:

• American Express Preferred Vendors that pay commission overrides of 15% to 18% (See attachment for a list of some of our Preferred Vendors).

• American Express Pre-negotiated rates on all major hotels and car companies with savings up to 65%.

• Ability to book tours and cruises on-line which will save much time and money spent in phone calls and allows you to respond faster to your client’s requests.  

• American Express Group tours and cruises for you to book into at tremendous savings.

• American Express Cruise & Tour Preferred Vendors support.

• Web page updates and specials for you to offer to your clients

• Access to our Special Rate Desk with Net Domestic fares for last minute airline tickets.

• You will be listed on AMT-American Express Travel’s IATA & ARC lists which will allow you to receive an IATA card and all travel benefits.

These tools are also available for a small charge:

• Addition of your mailing list to our database for American Express Mail Promotions.

• Errors and Omissions Insurance.

• Refunds and reissue of tickets.

How and When Are You Paid?

All ICs are paid on the 15th of each month on all monies collected from the suppliers after the completion of travel.  Commission sheets must be received by accounting no later than the 10^th of the month for issuance on the 15th.

Our commission structure is based on your individual sales volume annually that you book with our preferred vendors. So you are free to do as much or as little with us as you wish. You will still receive all the benefits of working with AMT-American Express Travel. The commission structure is as follows:

$0 to $ 60,000.00                                               50% of the Net Commission*

$ 61,000.000 to $100,000.00                               60% of the Net Commission*

$101, 000.00 to $150,000.00                               70% of the Net Commission*

$151,000.00 to $200,000.00                                80% of the Net Commission*

$201,000.00 or More                                          90% of the Net Commission*

*Commission structure based on Tours & Cruises sales only, that are booked with AMT-American Express Preferred Vendors.

For any Tour or Cruise Vendors not on our Preferred list, the commissions will be 50% of the Net Commission. A $35.00 Documentation Fee is charged for every airline ticket run through AMT. There is a $10.00 charge for UPS Next-Day delivery of all documents.  All transaction and handling fees will be deducted from the monthly commission checks we send you.
